Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has announced that she has taken legal action against a journalist accused of spreading false and baseless claims about her.
The Baaghi star shared the development through her Instagram Story, where she revealed that she had initiated proceedings to defend her reputation and dignity.

“Today, I’ve taken legal action against a journalist who spread false and baseless claims about me,” Saba wrote. “No one has the right to make false accusations just for attention.”
The actress encouraged her fans, colleagues, and fellow industry professionals to stand up against defamation and media misconduct, emphasizing that silence often enables falsehoods to spread unchecked.

“I want to say this to everyone – my fans, my colleagues, and my industry – stand up for yourself when someone tries to defame or disrespect you,” she wrote. “Don’t stay silent. Call out such behavior and hold people accountable. Let’s bring change by speaking the truth and standing strong.”
While Saba did not name the journalist in question, her post quickly went viral, sparking widespread debate within Pakistan’s entertainment community. Many social media users applauded her for setting an example and using lawful means to address misinformation.
Saba Qamar has long been known for her bold voice and uncompromising stance on social and professional issues. She has repeatedly spoken about the importance of integrity and ethical journalism in Pakistan’s media landscape.
However, her legal move comes shortly after she made headlines for her controversial remarks about Karachi. During an appearance on a podcast, Saba was asked whether she would consider moving to the city permanently. Her humorous response — “Astaghfirullah, never!” — quickly went viral, prompting mixed reactions online.
The Kamli actress later clarified that her comments were taken out of context. “I just go there, do my work, and come back,” she said with a laugh, adding that she already owns a house in Karachi and meant no disrespect.
Her remarks triggered a wave of reactions across the entertainment fraternity. Iffat Omar defended Saba, calling her response “an honest opinion,” while Javeria Saud disagreed, saying, “The city is not dirty; people’s minds are dirty.”
Adding humor to the situation, Yasir Hussain posted a playful meme about Karachi, which Saba reshared with the caption, “You all are too funny. Peace, guys – Karachi is beautiful, just keep it clean and it’ll have my whole heart.”

Actor Zhalay Sarhadi also joined the discussion, expressing her affection for Karachi. “It’s a city full of energy, love, and opportunity. Karachi gives strength to everyone who comes here,” she wrote.
Despite the controversy, Saba Qamar remains one of Pakistan’s most celebrated actresses, admired for her fearless performances, candor, and ability to stay composed amid public scrutiny.
