A major corruption case has surfaced in Islamabad, where diesel allocated for official use by the Capital Development Authority is allegedly being diverted and sold in the black market. The development has triggered serious concerns over misuse of public resources and internal accountability within government institutions.
The investigation was initiated by the Federal Investigation Agency, which recently conducted a targeted raid resulting in the arrest of one suspect. Another individual reportedly managed to escape during the operation, prompting authorities to expand the search and tighten enforcement measures.
According to officials, the case was formally registered as FIR No. 11/2026 on April 7, 2026. The complaint was filed by Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Ali after intelligence reports pointed toward an organized network involved in siphoning off diesel intended for CDA operations. The stolen fuel was allegedly being sold to private buyers in the open market for profit.
Acting on credible information, FIA teams carried out a sting operation near the MPO Office in Sector H-10/3 along Kashmir Highway. During the raid, an undercover official used a marked Rs. 5,000 currency note to conduct a controlled transaction, confirming the illegal sale of government fuel.
The operation exposed a systematic method of fuel theft, suggesting that the activity was not an isolated incident but part of a coordinated scheme. Authorities believe that more individuals could be involved, including insiders who may have facilitated the diversion of diesel from official reserves.
The scandal has raised serious questions about monitoring mechanisms within the Capital Development Authority. Misappropriation of fuel not only leads to financial losses for the government but also disrupts essential public services that rely on these resources.
