CM Maryam Approves 657 Environment-Friendly Buses

In a significant move towards enhancing public transportation and promoting eco-friendliness, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has given the green light for the procurement of 657 environment-friendly passenger buses destined for major cities across the province.

A high-level meeting convened in Lahore served as the platform to review Punjab’s ambitious transport project. During the session, a detailed briefing was provided on the provision of 20,000 electric bikes alongside the aforementioned buses, specifically tailored for urban areas.

CM Maryam further announced the introduction of a metro bus service for Faisalabad, earmarking 100 buses to address the city’s pressing public transport needs. The electric bikes project is slated to kick off on May 9, with deliveries commencing within the same month.

In a bid to facilitate accessibility, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure a low downpayment scheme, particularly catering to students. Additionally, the “Sarkein Bahaal Punjab Khushhal” project has been set in motion across the province, focusing on the rehabilitation of inter and intra-district roads to bolster socio-economic development.

CM Maryam emphasized a strict deadline of six months for road repairs and underscored the importance of installing electric weighing machines to streamline the axle load management system effectively.
