Punjab has completed the construction and rehabilitation of 1,129 roads within just 75 days under the provincial government’s “Sohne Pind, Sohnian Rahwan” programme, with officials describing the achievement as a new national benchmark for infrastructure development.

The milestone was reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, where senior officials presented a detailed briefing on the progress of road development projects across the province.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister was updated on the Communication and Works Department’s overall road portfolio, ongoing infrastructure schemes, and the utilisation of allocated development funds. Officials highlighted the pace of work completed under the initiative, which aims to improve road connectivity in both urban and rural areas.

The “Sohne Pind, Sohnian Rahwan” programme focuses on upgrading the province’s road network to facilitate safer and more efficient travel. Improved roads are expected to enhance transportation, support local businesses, strengthen agricultural supply chains, and provide better access to education, healthcare, and public services.

According to the briefing, completing 1,129 roads in a span of 75 days reflects an accelerated implementation strategy designed to deliver public infrastructure projects within shorter timelines. The provincial government considers the initiative a major step toward modernising Punjab’s transport network and improving mobility for residents.

Road infrastructure remains a key component of Punjab’s broader development agenda, with authorities aiming to ensure that construction projects are completed efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Officials also reviewed the status of ongoing schemes and discussed the effective utilisation of development funds to keep projects on schedule.

The provincial government has emphasized that improved road connectivity can contribute to economic growth by reducing travel time, lowering transportation costs, and creating better links between cities, towns, and villages. Enhanced infrastructure also supports trade, tourism, and investment by making movement across the province more convenient.

As work continues under the “Sohne Pind, Sohnian Rahwan” programme, the Punjab government is expected to monitor the progress of remaining projects and accelerate future infrastructure initiatives. Officials believe sustained investment in roads and public works will play an important role in supporting long-term economic development and improving the quality of life for citizens across the province.
