The Sindh government is set to revise its existing laws to facilitate the entry of multiple power utilities, aiming to improve electricity supply and reduce dependence on a single provider. Announced on September 29, 2024, this decision comes in response to the growing demand for reliable power supply in Karachi and other parts of Sindh.
Under the proposed changes, private power companies will be allowed to operate in different regions, breaking the monopoly of the existing power utility.
