AI might replace programmers in next 5 years

In a recent interview, Mostaque, the CEO of AI startup Stability AI, made bold predictions about the future of artificial intelligence. He claimed that within the next year, individuals would be able to use ChatGPT on their smartphones, even without internet access.

The rapid advancements in AI technology make it challenging to gauge its impact on our future. However, Mostaque shed light on the subject, stating that programmers may become obsolete within the next five years. He emphasized that AI would become so powerful and efficient that companies would prefer utilizing it over human programmers due to its speed and cost-effectiveness.

During an episode titled “Why AI Matters And How To Deal With The Coming Change,” Mostaque discussed the current state of AI and offered insights into its future implications, painting a somewhat bleak picture for humanity.

Supporting his predictions, Mostaque highlighted that over 41% of the code on GitHub is now generated through AI, surpassing the contributions of human programmers. He also noted that AI outpaced Bitcoin and Ethereum in terms of GitHub activity in just a little over three months.

Furthermore, Mostaque forecasted that an offline version of ChatGPT would be available on mobile devices by the end of the following year. This development would enable users to harness the power of AI without relying on an internet connection.

Stability AI, launched in August 2022, is a prominent AI startup specializing in visual arts and has achieved a valuation of approximately $1 billion.
