Pakistan has announced an important policy shift according to which a passport applicant is no longer limited to submitting passport applications to the district offices corresponding to their CNIC address. According to this update, the applicant can apply to any passport office throughout the country, making it much easier for millions who would have been restricted by their location previously. The new application process for passports is designed to increase access and reduce wait times so that citizens in every part of Pakistan have easier access.
The Director General of Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, revealed that the federal government initiated these changes after the consistent complaints from applicants. Letting the applications for a passport be processed at any location will help the government clear one of the main causes of delays and an unsatisfied customer. Regional passport offices have already been informed about these updates and are all set to implement the new procedure.
New Passport application laws will be helpful for applicants
Earlier, most applicants were disqualified due to incongruity between the applicant’s CNIC address and the present location. Now all these hurdles are removed due to this law and help citizens attain passports without the fear of losing their recorded address. Process efficiency would improve under this reformation so ease a lot for the locals whose present and permanent addresses were different and recorded on CNIC.
This also addresses the issue of long waiting hours at passport offices. The new policy is likely to reduce waiting hours, thereby improving the overall experience of getting passports at passport offices nationwide.
The new application process for passports is yet another step towards streamlining important services and reflects the government’s concern to improve the operational processes such that citizens’ needs are efficiently addressed.
