What emerged as the biggest news at Karachi Airport yesterday was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the LCAS and ASSLS for launching a free of cost air ambulance service to provide prompt medical assistance, more so emergency evacuations, especially from far-flung areas like Ghotki, Sukkur, and Khairpur, so that serious patients can be brought to Karachi instantly for treatment.
According to Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, this service would reduce the time it takes to transport patients from far-flung towns to Karachi’s major hospitals from hours down to mere minutes. Being so far apart, the rigors of traveling those distances often turn out extremely time-consuming and can prove life-threatening. This air ambulance service will be a game-changer, and for those needing urgent medical attention, it will literally provide them with a lifeline.
Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said it was imperative to fulfill the vision of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari; the initiative of launching this service made him proud. He announced that soon, an air ambulance would also be launched in Hyderabad, Thar, Nawabshah, and Larkana. The airstrips in Badin may also be made operational for the purpose.
He added that this service would not only be useful for Sindh but also prove helpful for patients from South Punjab and North Sindh. Chairman LCAS Syed Kamil Haider Shah said that ASSL Aviation Company will operate five free flights per month for districts Sukkur, Ghotki, and Khairpur.
