The South Korean giant Samsung announces that it’s rolling out its advanced AI technology, “Circle To Search,” to a few mid-range Galaxy A-series devices besides the Galaxy Tab S9 FE series. This comes as part of Samsung’s broader strategy to front-flank AI capabilities across its range of devices, introducing the feature on the following models: Galaxy A55, A54, A35, A34, Tab S9 FE, and Tab S9 FE+.

Previously, this AI functionality was available only on high-end models starting with the Galaxy S24 and is compatible with other flagships like the Galaxy S23 and S22 series. One of the most strongly proclaimed tools of its kind in the Galaxy S24 is something called “Circle To Search”. This feature allows users to select any region of interest from pictures or videos and find relevant content that helps improve the user experience in interacting with visual media.

The earlier, newly compatible devices in the market would be accessed when updating the operating system to One UI 6. This, however, does not mean that the company has opened the gates fully, as it has clearly mentioned that older models, cheaper devices in the Galaxy series, will not get these AI upgrades, clearly showcasing technical ultimatums on the old hardware.

This move shows the commitment of the company to having AI in a wide array of devices, thus being at the forefront of making smartphones around the globe. The exclusion of cheaper models from such an expansion reflects Samsung’s strategic keeping of a line between mid-range devices and maintenance of high standards of performance and capability.

At nearly 20.8 percent in Q1 2024, against the background of a globally booming smartphone market, with Samsung continuing to hold its ground, this will further raise its competitive advantage over rivals such as Apple and Xiaomi.
