The Government of Pakistan has officially confirmed that the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025 will kick off with an inauguration ceremony on July 25 at the Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad. The announcement was made following a high-level review session chaired by Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar. The committee thoroughly assessed application quotas and regional distribution to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection process.

A major outcome of the meeting was the decision to launch a comprehensive media campaign to raise awareness about the scheme. This campaign will be led by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, with coordination from educational institutions and regional administrations.

“This programme is aligned with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s long-standing commitment to youth empowerment through digital tools,” said Dr. Siddiqui. “Providing access to laptops is not merely about technology—it’s about investing in Pakistan’s human capital.”

Rana Mashhood added that regional ceremonies will follow the central event, and exact dates for these distributions will be shared in due course.

Under this year’s phase of the scheme, 100,000 high-achieving students across public universities and eligible institutions will receive laptops. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has already released the initial merit lists, and students can check their status online.

The scheme is designed to bridge the digital divide and enable students to pursue academic excellence through enhanced access to e-learning, research, and global educational resources.
