New Zealand Visit Visa
New Zealand

New Zealand, famed for its breathtaking natural beauty, offers a diverse range of landscapes and experiences for tourists. From the majestic fjords of Milford Sound to the bubbling geothermal areas of Rotorua, and the serene beaches of Abel Tasman National Park, this island nation is a dream destination for many.

Visa Requirements for Pakistani Citizens

For Pakistani citizens looking to visit New Zealand for tourism or short-term study, obtaining a visitor visa is essential. Entry into New Zealand without a visa is not permitted. This visa allows you to stay for up to six months on a multiple-entry basis or up to nine months on a single-entry basis. However, working on this visa is not allowed, although you can study for up to three months.

Essential Documents for a New Zealand Visit Visa

To apply for a New Zealand visit visa, Pakistani citizens must provide several key documents:

Proof of Identity:

  • A recent acceptable photo (one if applying online, two for paper applications).
  • A valid passport or certificate of identity.
  • If applying online, upload a copy of your passport. You will be informed if the original passport is needed later.
  • For paper applications, submit the original passport or a certified copy for faster processing.

Health and Character Certificates:

  • A medical certificate to confirm good health.
  • A police character certificate.

Travel Arrangements:

  • Proof of a return ticket.
  • Proof of accommodation, such as hotel bookings.

Updated Bank Statement Requirements

One crucial aspect of the application is proving that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay. As of July 2024, the requirements are as follows:

  • If paying for yourself, you need at least NZD $1,000 per month, or NZD $400 per month if your accommodation is prepaid.
  • To demonstrate this, you can provide:
    • Proof of accommodation prepayment (hotel vouchers or receipts).
    • Bank statements or credit card statements.
    • Bank drafts or travelers’ cheques.
  • Authorities may request information about the source of your funds.

If you plan to stay for three months without prepaid accommodation, you need NZD $3,000 in your bank account. Given the current exchange rate of 1 NZD to Rs165.97, this equates to a minimum of Rs 497,910 in your bank account to meet the financial requirements.

Health Care and Medical Assistance Declaration

Applicants must also declare that they will cover the costs of any health care or medical assistance needed during their stay in New Zealand.

Visa Processing Time

According to New Zealand immigration authorities, 80% of visa applications are processed within four weeks. Therefore, it is advisable to apply well in advance of your intended travel dates.
