Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced a special development package worth Rs. 200 billion aimed at boosting infrastructure and public welfare in the Hazara Division. The announcement was made during a meeting at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House with local parliamentarians, focusing on the province’s upcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP).

During the session, lawmakers urged the federal government to dualize the Haripur–Mansehra GT Road, which falls under the National Highway Authority. The chief minister assured that the provincial government would provide financial support to accelerate the project, enhancing travel and connectivity for residents of Haripur and Mansehra.

Of the total package, Rs. 50 billion has been earmarked specifically for tourism-related projects, highlighting a strategic push to develop Hazara’s tourism potential. Afridi also requested elected representatives to hold separate consultations to recommend additional projects for inclusion in the special package.

In a significant administrative move, the chief minister announced plans to upgrade Allai into a separate district, further supporting local governance and development. He emphasized that the next fiscal year’s ADP will prioritize large-scale projects, direct public benefit, and the timely completion of ongoing schemes. PC-1 documents for proposed projects will be prepared before finalizing the ADP, with special focus on underdeveloped districts across the province.

The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, along with members of the National Assembly and Provincial Assembly representing Hazara Division, reinforcing a collaborative approach to planning and development.
