Get ready, Pixel fans! Google is rumored to be working on some seriously cool touch technology for its upcoming Google Pixel 9 smartphones. This new feature, called “Adaptive Touch,” could automatically change how sensitive your screen is based on what’s going on around you.
What is Adaptive Touch?
Imagine your phone automatically adjusting its touchscreen in the rain, or when you have gloves on. Adaptive Touch is designed to do just that. It also could sense when you have a screen protector on and adjust accordingly for the best touch experience.
How Did We Find Out?
Tech experts digging into Google’s latest Android beta software found hints about Adaptive Touch. They also noticed it’s labeled specifically for 2024 releases—which means it’s likely coming to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro.
Building on Touch Innovations
This isn’t Google’s first foray into making touchscreens better. The Pixel 8 already includes a screen protector detector, boosting sensitivity when it knows a protector is in place.
Will It Come to Older Pixels?
We’re not yet sure if Google plans to bring Adaptive Touch to older Pixel phones through software updates. We’ll have to wait and see!
