A Journey of Patriotism on Rails Azadi Safari Train
The spirit of Pakistan’s Independence Day came alive as the specially decorated “Azadi Safari Train” departed from Karachi City Station, heading towards Tharparkar. Designed to mark the festivities with grandeur, the train—formerly known as the Desert Safari Train—carried more than 100 passengers eager to witness the scenic and cultural wonders along the route.

The Azadi Train will make its way through:
- Karachi – The starting point of this patriotic journey.
- Hyderabad – A bustling stop rich in history.
- Mirpurkhas – Known for its mangoes and vibrant communities.
- Umerkot – Steeped in cultural heritage.
- Tharparkar – The final destination, where desert landscapes meet centuries-old traditions.
The train is scheduled to return to Karachi on August 14, symbolizing unity and celebration on the nation’s most significant day.
Festivities and Special Attractions
Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon and Minister for Culture and Tourism Zulfiqar Ali Shah were present at the send-off ceremony. In a festive touch, a 78-pound cake was cut to commemorate the occasion, reflecting the event’s theme — “Battle for Truth”.

Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah highlighted that the Azadi Train aims to unite communities, bring together civil society, celebrities, and political figures, and send a strong message of peace to the world. He praised the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founders and emphasized that the journey celebrates not just the past, but the enduring strength of national unity.
