The federal government has introduced a secure communication application named Beep, designed exclusively for internal use by government employees. Pilot operations of the platform are currently underway in select federal divisions.
Officials from the National Information Technology Board confirmed that the application has entered its trial phase. The initiative aims to strengthen secure communication channels within government institutions.
At present, Beep is being tested in the Cabinet Division, Planning Division, and IT Division. Employee accounts have been created in these departments, and officers are actively using the platform for official correspondence.
According to officials, the app is intended to function as a secure, centralized messaging system similar to widely used global communication platforms, but tailored for government operations. The objective is to reduce reliance on third-party applications and enhance data security.
Initial feedback from pilot divisions indicates that staff members are using the platform for day-to-day coordination, document sharing, and internal discussions. The early rollout is being closely monitored to assess performance, security, and user experience.
Introductory and training sessions are also being conducted across other ministries to familiarize employees with the app’s features. These sessions are expected to support a phased expansion once the pilot phase concludes successfully.
The development of Beep reflects the government’s broader push toward digital transformation and secure IT infrastructure. By creating an in-house communication ecosystem, authorities aim to ensure sensitive discussions and official data remain protected within national systems.
If the pilot proves successful, the application may be rolled out across additional federal ministries and attached departments in the coming months. A wider implementation could mark a significant step in modernizing internal governance processes.
The initiative highlights growing emphasis on cybersecurity and digital sovereignty within Pakistan’s public sector. Further updates regarding nationwide deployment are expected following the completion of the evaluation phase.
