Vivo has unveiled its latest smartphones, the V40 and V40 Pro, which feature significantly larger batteries while maintaining their slim profiles. These new devices also come equipped with updated camera systems and refreshed designs, setting a new standard in the mid-range smartphone market.
Design and Display
The Vivo V40 and V40 Pro share identical dimensions of 164.2 x 74.9 x 7.58 millimeters and boast a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels. Notably, the screen brightness has been significantly enhanced, reaching a peak of 4,500 nits, a substantial improvement over the previous V30 series.
Performance and Software
The V40 retains the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset from its predecessor, the V30, ensuring reliable performance for everyday tasks. Meanwhile, the V40 Pro has been upgraded with the Dimensity 9200+ processor, offering a significant boost in performance over the Dimensity 8200 found in the previous models.
Both smartphones run on Android 14 with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 14 layered on top. Vivo has committed to rolling out OS updates for four years, ensuring that users have access to the latest features and security enhancements.

The V40 is available in three storage configurations:

Both models are equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an AI Aura Light Portrait feature enabled by a ring-shaped LED flash. Additionally, both phones sport a 50MP selfie camera based on the Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor.
Battery Life and Charging
One of the standout features of the V40 series is the battery capacity. Both models feature 5,500 mAh batteries, the largest capacity ever offered in the V series. They also support 80W FlashCharge fast charging technology. Vivo claims that these batteries can endure 1,600 full charge cycles while maintaining at least 80% of their original capacity, significantly extending the phones’ lifespan.
Color Options and Pricing
The V40 and V40 Pro are available in several stylish color options. The V40 comes in Stellar Silver, Nebula Purple, Moonlight White, and Sunglow Peach, while the V40 Pro is available in Ganges Blue and Titanium Gray.
Pricing for the new models is competitive, with the vanilla V40 starting at $480 in India and the V40 Pro priced at $655.
