Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, Nawaf Said Al-Malki, inaugurated four buses donated by the Saudi government to the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI). The ceremony was held at the university’s new campus and attended by IIUI Vice Presidents, Saudi faculty members, and senior officials.
Addressing the gathering, the ambassador said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy exemplary brotherly ties that are admired around the world. He highlighted the strong connection Saudi Arabia has with the International Islamic University, describing the institution as one that holds a special place in the Kingdom’s heart.
He also expressed gratitude to the university administration for their warm reception and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s continued support for education and development initiatives in Pakistan.
IIUI President, Prof Dr Ahmed Saad Alahmed, extended his appreciation to the Saudi government for the generous contribution. He stated that the new buses would significantly ease travel for students and staff, adding that such gestures not only enhance academic life but also further cement relations between the two nations.
During the ceremony, the ambassador was given a detailed briefing about the university’s transport facilities by Syed Hassan Aftab, Director of the Central Transport Unit (CTU). Officials noted that the additional buses would improve accessibility for students across both the old and new campuses, facilitating academic and extracurricular activities.
The event symbolized more than just the handover of buses—it reflected the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. With Saudi Arabia consistently extending educational and infrastructural support to IIUI, the partnership demonstrates shared commitment to knowledge, cultural exchange, and bilateral cooperation.
For the thousands of students at IIUI, the new transport facilities represent convenience, safety, and better opportunities to fully participate in campus life. As relations between the two countries continue to thrive, initiatives like these highlight the enduring bond of friendship and mutual respect.
