In a surprising turn of events, OpenAI’s board of directors announced the departure of Sam Altman as CEO, citing a loss of confidence in his leadership capabilities.
The Microsoft-backed artificial intelligence firm revealed that Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati would step in as the interim CEO.
Altman, who previously held the position of president at the renowned startup accelerator Y Combinator, faced this significant change in his role at OpenAI.
“The board no longer has confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI,” the statement said.
