Gladiators Hold Their Nerve in Lahore
Quetta Gladiators held their composure in a tense last-over thriller to beat Karachi Kings by five runs during a gripping PSL 10 match at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Karachi, chasing 143, seemed poised for victory at various points but ultimately stumbled to 137-8 after 20 overs.
Karachi’s Top Order Fightback
After losing David Warner early to a fiery Mohammad Amir over, the Karachi Kings found a lifeline through Tim Seifert and James Vince.
Their partnership brought quick runs, and at 77/2 in the ninth over, Karachi appeared to be in control.
The dismissal of Vince for 30 by captain Saud Shakeel opened the door for Quetta. Moments later, Mohammad Wasim Jr. dismissed the in-form Seifert, and Karachi never fully recovered.
Quetta’s Bowling Stars Shine
The Gladiators capitalized as Khurram Shahzad and Abrar Ahmed triggered a middle-order collapse. Shan Masood’s painfully slow 9 from 17 balls added to Karachi’s woes.
Despite Hasan Ali’s late fireworks, Karachi needed more composure, eventually falling short.
Amir, Shahzad, and Abrar took two wickets each, showcasing a disciplined bowling performance that made all the difference.
Quetta’s First Innings Effort
Earlier, Quetta’s decision to bat first backfired initially. Hasan Ali and Abbas Afridi ripped through the top order, leaving the Gladiators reeling.
Only contributions from Kusal Mendis and a lively stand between Hasan Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf helped them cross the 140-run mark.
Faheem smashed 43 off just 27 balls before the innings ended at 142 in 19.3 overs.
With strong bowling displays and pressure-handling abilities, Quetta secured crucial points to boost their PSL 10 campaign.
