Streamlining Import and Export Processes Through Technological Integration
In a significant move to modernize Pakistan’s pharmaceutical trade, the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) have launched a digital clearance gateway. This initiative aims to enhance efficiency, transparency, and compliance in the import and export of pharmaceutical products.
Overview of the Digital Clearance Gateway
The newly introduced system provides a unified digital platform for stakeholders in the pharmaceutical sector to manage regulatory requirements seamlessly. Key features include:
- Centralized Documentation: Traders and customs agents can submit standardized information and documents through a single-entry point, reducing redundancy and processing time.
- Real-Time Processing: The platform enables immediate submission and review of applications, expediting the clearance process for pharmaceutical goods.
- Enhanced Transparency: Stakeholders have access to real-time updates on application statuses, fostering trust and accountability in regulatory procedures.
Transition from Previous Systems
Prior to this development, DRAP utilized the Online Import Export System (OIES) for processing import and export applications. Effective August 15, 2024, DRAP transitioned to the PSW platform for handling applications related to the clearance of commercial imports of raw materials and finished drug products at Karachi seaports and airports. This shift signifies a broader commitment to integrating technological solutions for trade facilitation.
