In a tragic incident, four young Pakistani men lost their lives while attempting to migrate illegally to Spain. The men, hailing from Punjab, were concealed in the cargo compartment of a boat traveling from Mauritania to Spain. Unfortunately, due to the lack of proper ventilation, they suffocated to death during the perilous journey. One of the victims was identified as Abu Huraira from Wazirabad, who had left home two months ago in search of better opportunities in Europe without informing his family.
Abu Huraira’s family confirmed his death after images of the deceased were circulated on social media, revealing the dire circumstances of his journey. His funeral prayers were offered in absentia in his hometown, while the identities of the other victims remain unknown. This tragedy highlights the dangers faced by many Pakistanis who undertake risky journeys in search of better economic opportunities, often falling prey to smugglers and agents who exploit their desperation.
This incident adds to the growing number of migrant deaths in recent years, prompting renewed calls for more stringent measures to curb human trafficking and provide safer legal pathways for migration.
