Renowned actor Nimra Khan recently took to her Instagram to share the terrifying details of a kidnapping attempt she narrowly escaped in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA). In a candid video shared on Monday night, Khan recounted the harrowing experience that left her and her family deeply shaken. “Yesterday, something horrific happened to me. Do you want this to happen to your daughter, wife, or sister? Can you send any of them outside safely in Pakistan? No, I can guarantee that your daughters aren’t safe here,” Khan said, visibly distressed in the video.
Khan detailed how the men, armed and dangerous, attempted to force her into their car. “I had my phones in hand, bags on my shoulder, waiting for my family. It was raining, and suddenly these men appeared. They held me at gunpoint and began dragging me toward their vehicle,” she narrated, the fear still palpable in her voice.
Despite the imminent danger, Khan mustered the courage to scream for help, but to her dismay, her cries went unheard. “Four guards were sitting right in front of me, yet no one listened. I was left to protect myself,” she added, highlighting the alarming negligence she faced.
In a desperate bid to save herself, Khan fought back, pushing the assailants’ bike away and sprinting towards safety, all while fearing she could be shot in the back. She managed to reach a moving car and pleaded for help from the family inside. The timely intervention of the strangers and the hotel staff ultimately thwarted the kidnapping attempt.
Khan’s emotional recounting didn’t stop at the incident itself; she also voiced her frustration and disappointment with the lack of security in the country. “How can I say that I am safe in this country where I am a taxpayer?” she questioned. “I should hire guards for myself from that tax money instead, to protect me from such incidents in the future.”
The actor’s criticism extends beyond her personal ordeal, reflecting a broader disillusionment with the current state of safety in Pakistan. “Now, I understand why people keep guards with them, why people are settling abroad. We need protection in Pakistan,” she lamented.
