New WhatsApp beta update keeps you safe from fake images

WhatsApp is beginning to roll out a new beta update for Android, this time version 2.24.21.3, which promises defence against fake images. It will be in the form of verification of images received by uploading them to Google for instant search of similar or related sources. Such actions should make it easier for recipients to detect misleading or fake content.

It will promise a user’s privacy, and no picture will be stored or processed by the app. The feature is already available in the current version of the beta, and the user can download the same through an update on the Google Play Store for WhatsApp beta for Android with version 2.24.21.31.

This update also includes a feature that lets users immediately verify online any image they received or forwarded. WhatsApp is also working on a new feature to verify links in frequently forwarded messages, really escalating its efforts against misinformation.
