Microsoft Introduces New File Sharing Feature Between iPhones and Windows PCs

Microsoft has unveiled a seamless file-sharing feature that bridges the gap between iPhones and Windows PCs, enhancing cross-platform integration. This development allows users to transfer files effortlessly between their devices, streamlining workflows and improving productivity.

Seamless Integration with Phone Link

The new feature operates through Microsoft’s Phone Link app, which now supports iOS devices. Users can share files by selecting the desired document on their iPhone, tapping the share icon, choosing “Link to Windows,” and selecting their PC. Conversely, on a Windows PC, users can right-click a file, select “Share,” and choose “My Phone” to send files to their iPhone.

Enhanced Productivity Across Devices

This functionality mirrors Apple’s AirDrop but extends compatibility to Windows PCs, addressing a longstanding limitation for users operating within both ecosystems. By facilitating direct file transfers, Microsoft aims to eliminate the need for third-party applications or cloud services, thereby enhancing user experience and productivity.

Availability and Requirements

Currently, this feature is available to Windows Insiders, with broader public access anticipated in future updates. To utilize this capability, users must have an iPhone running iOS 16 or later and a Windows PC with the latest version of the Phone Link app installed.
