FromSoftware has unveiled the launch trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign, offering fans a glimpse into the game’s dynamic gameplay and cooperative elements. Set to release on May 30, 2025, this standalone multiplayer co-op action survival game transports players to the ever-changing world of Limveld, a reimagined version of the original game’s Limgrave.
A New Era of Cooperative Gameplay
Unlike its predecessor, Nightreign emphasizes cooperative play, allowing up to three players to team up as “Nightfarers.” Together, they must navigate a procedurally generated landscape filled with shifting biomes, formidable enemies, and environmental hazards. The gameplay introduces a dynamic shrinking map, reminiscent of battle royale mechanics, where players must adapt quickly to survive and confront powerful bosses at the end of each in-game day .
Unique Nightfarers Classes
The trailer showcases eight distinct Nightfarer classes, each with unique abilities and playstyles:
- Wylder: A versatile fighter adept in various combat techniques.
- Guardian: A defensive powerhouse capable of absorbing damage and protecting allies.
- Ironeye: A sharpshooter with unparalleled precision in ranged combat.
- Duchess: A swift and agile combatant, excelling in close-quarters battles.
- Raider: A brute force warrior utilizing heavy armor and earth-based magic .
- Recluse: A stealthy assassin skilled in subterfuge and silent takedowns.
- Executor: A balanced fighter with a mix of offensive and defensive capabilities.
- Revenant: A necromancer-like class, drawing comparisons to Priscilla from Dark Souls .
Dynamic Combat and Aerial Mechanics
The trailer introduces enhanced combat mechanics, including aerial attacks and new weapon animations. Players can now engage in mid-air combat, adding a vertical dimension to battles. Additionally, certain characters can utilize large blue birds for aerial traversal, offering strategic advantages during encounters .
Boss Battles and Nightlord Encounters
Each in-game day culminates in a boss battle, with the final challenge being a confrontation with one of the Nightlords. These formidable foes require meticulous strategy and teamwork to defeat. The trailer hints at appearances from iconic Elden Ring bosses, such as Starscourge Radahn, albeit in a more aggressive and hellish arena setting .
Nightreign offers a robust character customization system through the “Roundtable Hold,” where players can unlock outfits and gear using in-game currency called Marks. Notably, the game features armor sets inspired by previous Dark Souls titles, including a regal version of Solaire’s iconic armor . Additionally, players can collect relics during their journey, which can be used to upgrade and personalize their Nightfarers’ abilities and appearance .

Elden Ring: Nightreign is scheduled for release on May 30, 2025, and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. The game is priced at $39.99, with pre-order deals currently available .
