The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is set to begin work on the final stretch of Margalla Avenue after opening financial bids for the project.

CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa reviewed progress during a meeting focused on ongoing and upcoming development schemes in Islamabad.

Project Overview

  • Total Cost: Rs. 3.58 billion
  • Length: 2.7 kilometers
  • Purpose: Connect Margalla Avenue with Motorway M-1
  • Additional Infrastructure: Interchange on Grand Trunk Road (GT Road)
  • Endpoint: Near Sangjani Grid Station within Islamabad’s limits

The CDA has already completed the opening of technical bids and is now moving to open financial bids before awarding the contract.

Once completed, the new stretch will improve connectivity between Islamabad and the motorway network, ease traffic congestion, and enhance access to northern areas and surrounding localities. The interchange on GT Road is expected to further streamline traffic flow and reduce bottlenecks.

The Margalla Avenue expansion is part of broader infrastructure development efforts aimed at improving mobility and supporting urban growth in the federal capital.
