IPAK Group Reports Rs. 11.13 Billion Revenue in First Quarter of FY2027

International Packaging Films Limited (IPAK) has reported consolidated revenue of Rs. 11.13 billion for the first quarter ended September 30, 2026, marking a 9.2% increase compared with the corresponding period last year.

Despite the growth in revenue, the packaging group’s profit after tax remained largely unchanged, reaching Rs. 705 million against Rs. 704 million in the same quarter of the previous year. Earnings per share (EPS), however, improved to Rs. 1.08 from Rs. 1.01.

The latest financial results indicate that IPAK continued to expand its revenue during the quarter, although higher-level profitability faced pressure. The company also recorded a decline in gross profit, while lower finance costs provided some relief to its financial expenses.

According to the reported results, IPAK’s gross profit decreased to Rs. 1.62 billion from Rs. 1.75 billion in the corresponding quarter last year. This decline came despite the increase in overall revenue, highlighting the difference between sales growth and the company’s ability to retain earnings after production-related costs.

Gross profit is an important measure of a company’s operating performance because it reflects revenue remaining after the direct costs associated with producing goods have been deducted. A reduction in gross profit alongside higher revenue can indicate pressure on production costs, selling prices or the overall product mix, although the reported figures alone do not establish the specific cause.

Another notable development was the reduction in finance costs. IPAK reported that these expenses declined by 16% year-on-year, potentially easing some of the pressure associated with financing its business operations.

Finance costs can include interest and other expenses related to borrowing. Their reduction may support profitability, particularly for companies that rely on financing to fund working capital, equipment and expansion. However, the overall effect depends on other operating expenses, taxes and income recorded during the period.

The company’s profit after tax increased by just Rs. 1 million compared with the previous year’s first quarter. This represents a broadly stable earnings performance despite the reported revenue growth.

Meanwhile, earnings per share rose from Rs. 1.01 to Rs. 1.08. EPS measures the portion of a company’s earnings attributable to each outstanding share and is commonly monitored by investors when assessing financial performance.

The improvement in EPS, alongside largely unchanged net profit, may reflect changes in the share count or other factors affecting the calculation. The available figures do not provide enough information to determine the exact reason for the increase.

For investors following Pakistan’s packaging sector, IPAK’s quarterly results offer several indicators to monitor. Revenue growth suggests higher reported sales, while the decline in gross profit highlights the importance of margins and production costs. The reduction in finance costs is another factor that may influence the company’s financial position in subsequent quarters.

Future results will help clarify whether the company can sustain revenue growth while improving gross profitability. Investors may also watch changes in financing expenses, operating costs and demand for packaging products to assess the group’s performance over the remainder of the financial year.

Overall, International Packaging Films Limited reported stronger revenue but largely stable net earnings in the first quarter ended September 30, 2026. The combination of higher sales, lower gross profit and reduced finance costs presents a mixed financial picture that will require further quarterly results to assess more fully.
