The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 4,761 new companies in August 2026, reflecting continued business activity and formalization of enterprises across the country.
With these new registrations, the total number of companies registered with the corporate regulator in Pakistan reached 311,765.
The SECP said almost all registrations were completed through its online system. Around 99.9 percent of the new company registrations during August were processed digitally, highlighting the growing use of online services for business incorporation.
The month also saw the entry of three foreign companies into Pakistan, adding to the country’s corporate and investment landscape.
Private companies accounted for the largest share of the new registrations. A total of 2,762 private companies were registered during August, while 1,846 single member companies were also incorporated.
The registration figures show strong interest in several major sectors of Pakistan’s economy, with the information technology sector recording the highest number of new companies.
The IT sector registered 872 new companies during the month. The strong performance reflects continued interest in technology-related businesses and the expanding role of the digital economy in Pakistan.
The trading sector followed with 732 new registrations, making it the second-largest category for new company formation in August.
The services sector also recorded significant activity, with 601 new companies registered during the month. Meanwhile, 295 companies were registered in the construction sector.
Tourism was another notable category, accounting for 232 new company registrations in August.
The latest SECP figures provide an indication of continued entrepreneurial activity in Pakistan, particularly in technology, trading, services, construction and tourism.
The high percentage of online registrations also highlights the increasing digitization of corporate registration processes, allowing entrepreneurs to establish companies through digital channels.
