In preparation for the high-profile Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, authorities in Islamabad have ordered the closure of all wedding halls, hotels, and restaurants from October 12 to 16, 2024. This decision is part of broader security measures designed to ensure the smooth conduct of the summit, which will be attended by international dignitaries, including Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang.
Notices have been issued to businesses, warning them of legal consequences for non-compliance. Along with these closures, the government has declared three public holidays from October 14 to 16 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Security personnel have been deployed across the capital, and local traders have been asked to provide surety bonds as a guarantee of their cooperation.
