Spotify is evolving from a music streaming app to a platform with features reminiscent of social media. The latest addition is a comment section allowing users to interact directly with podcasters on Spotify. This feature, rolling out gradually, will be available to all users over the next month.
Last year, Spotify revamped its interface to include a discovery feed similar to TikTok, enhancing its social media-like capabilities. The platform now offers artist profiles where creators can sell merchandise and concert tickets, and it has introduced a feature for posting stories.
Spotify is no more just a music streaming app
Spotify aims to shift its image from being just a music streaming service to a comprehensive audio streaming app. The Spotify for Podcasters mobile app has been updated, enabling podcast hosts to manage their shows and engage with audiences via the app or desktop. Comments will remain private until approved by hosts, who can disable, enable specific episodes, or turn on comments for the entire show.
Podcast hosts can monitor stats and track growth in real-time, with notifications when their podcast ranks on a chart or hits a milestone listener count. Additionally, creators can use Countdown Pages to build anticipation for new releases.
Earlier reports mentioned a Community feature that lets users see what others are streaming in real time and collaborate on playlists. These updates reflect Spotify’s strategy to enhance user engagement and interaction on its platform, making it more interactive and community-focused.
By integrating comments and other social features, Spotify aims to broaden its appeal and functionality, fostering a more dynamic user experience. These innovations mark Spotify’s ongoing efforts to expand its service offerings and keep pace with evolving user expectations.
