Islamabad Rolls Out First-Ever Mobile Control Room to Bolster Muharram Security

For the first time in its history, Islamabad has introduced a mobile control room as part of its intensified security strategy for Muharram, aimed at ensuring peace and protection during one of the most sensitive periods in the Islamic calendar. This state-of-the-art mobile unit, launched on the special directive of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, marks a key milestone in the Islamabad Muharram security plan, reflecting a proactive, tech-driven approach to law and order.

Fully operational even in areas without mobile signals, the mobile control room is equipped with modern surveillance systems and drone integration, offering real-time coordination with ground units. The move is designed to enable quick responses to any untoward incidents during Majalis and processions.

Ministers Inspect Security Setup Called Mobile Control Room at G-6 Imambargah in Islamabad

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, along with Federal Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, personally visited Imambargah Asna Ashari in G-6 to inspect security arrangements. They reviewed the newly launched mobile control unit and spoke to officials on-ground, reaffirming the government’s commitment to a safe and smooth Muharram.

Talal Chaudhry informed the media that 1,762 personnel, including 350 traffic officers, have been deployed across key points in the capital. Special attention is being given to Islamabad’s four main entry points to ensure regulated access and crowd control.

Multi-Layered Strategy: From Drones to Cyber Monitoring

Inspector General of Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi laid out the broader Islamabad Muharram security plan, which includes sector-wise deployments, 24/7 surveillance via CCTV cameras, and enhanced inter-agency coordination. He emphasized that mourners traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad on the 9th and returning on the 10th of Muharram will be fully protected under this integrated system.

Importantly, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency has been tasked with round-the-clock monitoring of online platforms to curb hate speech and inflammatory content that could incite unrest.

The inspection was attended by top-tier officials including Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the Deputy Commissioner, multiple DIGs, SPs, and the Chief Traffic Officer, underlining the scale and seriousness of the security arrangements.
