The Sindh government has officially approved its Annual Sports Calendar for the financial year 2025-26, outlining a diverse lineup of sporting events aimed at promoting athletic talent, community engagement, and inclusive participation across the province. The calendar includes provincial competitions, traditional games, women’s sporting events, and activities designed for athletes with disabilities.

Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar announced the new schedule, highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening sports development and encouraging greater participation at the grassroots level.

One of the biggest highlights of the calendar is the 19th Sindh Games, which will be hosted in Sukkur this November. The multi-sport event is expected to bring together athletes from districts across Sindh, providing them with an opportunity to compete in various disciplines while showcasing emerging talent.

Earlier in the season, Shaheed Benazirabad will host both the Sindh Pink Games and the Special Games in October. The Sindh Pink Games are designed to encourage greater participation of women in sports, while the Special Games will provide a competitive platform for athletes with disabilities, reinforcing the government’s focus on inclusive sports development.

The annual sports calendar also includes traditional games and community-based competitions that aim to preserve Sindh’s cultural heritage while encouraging healthy lifestyles among people of all ages. Such events help strengthen community ties and provide opportunities for young athletes to discover and develop their sporting abilities.

Officials believe the comprehensive sports calendar will play an important role in identifying promising athletes who can represent Sindh at national competitions. Regular provincial tournaments also provide valuable competitive experience, helping players improve their skills and prepare for higher-level championships.

The initiative reflects the Sindh government’s broader strategy to expand sports infrastructure, organize structured competitions, and promote physical fitness throughout the province. Increased investment in sporting activities is expected to create more opportunities for youth while fostering a culture of healthy competition and teamwork.

Sports experts have welcomed the emphasis on women’s sports and inclusive competitions, noting that equal access to athletic opportunities contributes to broader social development. Dedicated events such as the Sindh Pink Games and Special Games can inspire greater participation and help identify talented athletes who may go on to represent Pakistan internationally.

Hosting major events in cities outside Karachi, including Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad, also supports balanced regional development by bringing sporting activities to different parts of the province. This approach allows local athletes to compete on home ground while encouraging greater public engagement with sports.

With a packed schedule of provincial championships, traditional competitions, and inclusive sporting events, Sindh’s 2025-26 sports calendar is expected to strengthen the province’s sporting ecosystem and provide athletes with more opportunities to excel throughout the year.
