WhatsApp is continuously expanding its range of features, and a new one is on the horizon, according to the WABetaInfo team. Meta’s popular messaging app is gearing up to introduce the ability to create multiple user profiles within a single account.
This new feature will allow users to establish distinct profiles for various groups, such as friends and colleagues, all under one account. You’ll have the flexibility to hide various profile details, like your profile picture, last seen status, and online activity, from different sets of contacts. This means you can tailor your information for specific groups within your contacts.
A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo illustrates how you can use a different profile picture for each set of contacts when you have an alternative profile.
The alternate profile option will be accessible within the app’s privacy settings, as indicated in the image. However, it’s worth noting that this feature is still in development and isn’t available for beta testers yet. It will initially be rolled out for closed beta testing before becoming accessible in the public beta version. Eventually, it will be incorporated into the stable release.
This update follows the recent global introduction of account switching in WhatsApp, which allows users to employ multiple WhatsApp accounts on a single device. It eliminates the need for workarounds like app cloning or maintaining a secondary smartphone solely for another WhatsApp account. Stay tuned for further updates on when this feature becomes available in the public version of WhatsApp.
