In recent weeks, a significant number of Pakistani nationals have been deported from various countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and China. These deportations underscore the challenges faced by Pakistani migrant workers abroad and raise concerns about the factors contributing to their forced return.
Statistics of Recent Deportations
According to reports, in a span of 24 hours, 258 Pakistanis were deported from seven countries. Among them, 14 individuals held Pakistani passports, while 244 were repatriated on emergency travel documents. Upon arrival in Karachi, 16 deportees were arrested for various reasons, including possession of suspicious identification documents.
Primary Reasons for Deportation
The deported individuals faced removal due to several factors:
- Expired Visas: Many migrants overstayed their visas, rendering their stay illegal.
- Illegal Employment: Engaging in work without proper authorization led to legal actions against them.
- Involvement in Criminal Activities: A minority were implicated in offenses such as smuggling or theft, resulting in their deportation.
Challenges Faced by Migrant Workers
Pakistani migrant workers often encounter numerous challenges in host countries:
- Legal and Documentation Issues: Navigating complex immigration laws and maintaining valid documentation can be daunting.
- Exploitation and Abuse: Some workers face exploitation by employers, including withholding of wages, poor working conditions, and lack of legal recourse.

The Pakistani government has acknowledged the plight of deported citizens and is taking steps to address the issue:
