The Ministry of Education is going to launch Pink Bus Service for female students and teachers in the capital city and garrison of Pakistan, Islamabad, on August 7. The service would cover all the major routes in the capital city and provide free and safe transportation at designated bus stops.
The Pink Bus Service strives at empowering education for girls and women by connecting the rural to the urban, while it bridges the gaps in transportation facilities. This initiative facilitates access to education for female students and eases the commute for teachers.
To ensure that this service works out well, there will be monitoring and regular evaluation. The Ministry of Education has observed that from the 385 buses, 30 percent of them were not operating due to lack of funds, a small number of drivers, and maintenance. The repairs are expected to be completed by the 15th of June to offer this free, vital transportation.
It is actually part of a greater effort to improve educational opportunities and support for women in Islamabad so that they correctly are provided facilities allowing them to pursue an education and career without any hurdle.
