Sohail Ashraf has reaffirmed Islamabad authorities’ support for relocating the Embassy of Uzbekistan to the Red Zone area of the federal capital as part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic facilitation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
The commitment was made during a meeting held at the headquarters of the Capital Development Authority between Islamabad Chief Commissioner and CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf and Alisher Tukhtayev.
During the meeting, both sides discussed arrangements and coordination required for shifting the Uzbek Embassy to Islamabad’s diplomatic district. Officials reviewed logistical matters related to the relocation process and future cooperation between relevant departments.
According to officials, Sohail Ashraf assured the Uzbek ambassador that the CDA would provide full support and necessary coordination to ensure the relocation process is completed efficiently and without delays.
The move is being viewed as part of broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties and improve institutional cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Islamabad’s Red Zone houses several key government institutions, diplomatic missions, and international offices, making it one of the capital’s most secure and strategically important areas.
Diplomatic observers believe the relocation could further facilitate bilateral engagement and strengthen the presence of Uzbekistan within Islamabad’s diplomatic community. Pakistan and Uzbekistan have expanded cooperation in recent years across trade, regional connectivity, tourism, and economic development initiatives.
Officials also discussed the importance of enhancing diplomatic infrastructure to support growing relations between the two countries. Authorities are expected to continue working closely on administrative and development matters linked to the relocation project.
