National Assembly Body Summons KE CEO Over Non-Payment of Covid Subsidy

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Energy has summoned the CEO of K-Electric (KE) to address concerns regarding the non-payment of the Covid subsidy to consumers. This subsidy was announced by the government to support citizens during the pandemic, but many Karachi residents are yet to benefit from this relief.

KE, being the sole electricity provider in Karachi, has been under scrutiny for its billing practices and service delivery. The non-payment of subsidies has sparked widespread discontent among consumers, who are already burdened with rising electricity costs.

The committee’s decision to call the KE CEO for an explanation is seen as a step towards holding utility providers accountable. Pakistani citizens hope this move will ensure transparency and prompt action in disbursing the promised subsidies.
